From Saturday 21 to Wednesday 25 November, Igeho is extending an invitation to its 50th anniversary edition at Messe Basel. A number of highlights were featured at the opening ceremony already. Following the official welcome by Exhibition Manager, Dominique Dresel, and a word of welcome from MCH Group CEO, René Kamm, the eminent philosopher and publicist Dr. Ludwig Hasler spoke in a highly pointed manner on the topic of "It's up to us to add that extra touch". Also present at Igeho in the morning: lateral thinker Karem Albdash and successful restaurateurs Rolf Hiltl and Michel Péclard. Towards the evening, ex-Miss Switzerland, Dominique Rinderknecht, and Marco Fritsche, presenter of the TV show for farmers seeking love, will be honouring visitors with their presence, along with insect cookery book author, Andrea Staudacher – promising a highly entertaining encounter!
Plenty will be happening over the next few days to make a visit to the exhibition worthwhile – this includes the Igeho Campus, the new event and meeting platform which has been launched for the anniversary edition. More than 70 experts will be presenting papers and engaging in discussions at the Igeho Campus every day, focusing on highly charged issues from the hotel, restaurant, take-away and care sectors. The programme includes exciting topics like food trends 2020, food waste in the hotel trade, sustainability, regionality and social media. On Monday, 23 November, starred chef and TV star Johann Lafer is set to be a big attraction. He will be a guest both at the Igeho Campus and in the Chefs' Arena, which causes quite a stir with its live shows. The Restaurant CH is also exceedingly popular, as the project for young professionals at Igeho.
Getting down to the bare bones: Mefa 2015
Mefa, the specialist fair for the meat trade and food production is being staged in parallel to Igeho. More than 70 exhibitors will be presenting their products, ideas and trends. The famous Metzgerstübli restaurant – the centrepiece of the Mefa fair – is the ideal location for social get-togethers. All the Swiss Champions will additionally be receiving their awards here, including the best newly-qualified apprentices in the sector. And, as a special highlight, the Swiss Association of the Meat Trade (SFF) will be presenting 500 award-winning meat products on Switzerland's biggest meat counter.
