How Duni uses food scraps and potato starch to create the table decoration of the future

What do food scraps have to do with table decorations? At first glance, nothing. The introduction of these table top lines is an important step in Duni's sustainability efforts.

But true to the motto "use don't waste", the Duni Group has used organic waste and potato starch to bring a special material innovation to the market and the table setting: Bio Dunisoft® and Bio Dunicel®. The introduction of these table-top lines is an important step in Duni's sustainability efforts, which include phasing out fossil materials and reducing the company's carbon footprint.

Bio Dunicel® Premium tablecloths: An innovation story written by life.

The story of Bio Dunicel® started in 2018, when a colleague from Bramsche made homemade glue from sugar and potato flour with her children. While doing so, she had the idea of using this mixture as a substitute for fossil-based binders in Duni's products. No sooner said than done: a recipe was formulated in a joint effort, and potato starch became the key ingredient. The first Bio Dunicel® products from this in-house development have been available since 2020. Duni is now following suit and offers Bio Dunicel® tablecloths in various formats and four selected highlight colors: Red, Kiwi, White and Cream.
